Let's talk about tennis : Let's go !
Hellooo!
Ball machines are awesome for repetition and consistency. You can groove a stroke, lock in timing, and hit a crazy number of balls without interruption. From that point of view, they’re hard to beat.
But sometimes, I really miss the unpredictability of a real opponent. No random spins, no weird rhythms, no pressure moments… and that’s a big part of tennis too.
So I’m curious, do you mainly use ball machines for technique, or do you try to integrate tactical patterns as well?

You're hitting on the exact problem this new generation of "smart" machines is trying to solve. I bought the Pongbot Pace S Pro last season, and it's a different beast. It's not just a ball launcher; it's a reactive training partner. Its killer feature is the Recovery Trigger. You wear a small sensor, and the machine waits to fire the next ball until you've returned to your designated "ready" position. This single feature forces match-like footwork and pacing. No more lazy recovery—the drill literally pauses if you don't get back.
