Anyone here using a tennis ball pressurizer? Does it really extend ball life?

Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking about getting a tennis ball pressurizer to make my balls last longer. I play a few times a week, and it feels like I’m constantly buying new cans because they lose pressure so quickly.

For those who have tried one:

  • Does it actually work, or is it more of a gimmick?

  • How long can you realistically keep balls playable with regular pressurizing?

  • Any brands or models you’d recommend (or avoid)?

  • Is there a difference between the small portable ones and the bigger high-pressure containers?

Curious to hear your experiences before I spend money on one. Thanks!

Great question! I've been using the Penn Pressurizer for about a year now. It definitely works - I can extend the life of my practice balls by about 2-3 weeks playing 3 times a week. The key is to put them in immediately after playing. They won't feel exactly like new balls, but they're perfect for practice sessions. The portable ones are convenient but the larger containers do a better job maintaining consistent pressure.

Honest opinion: it's partially a gimmick. Yes, it restores some pressure, but it can't restore the felt. Once the fluffiness is gone, the balls play completely differently. I found it useful for ball machine practice but not for actual matches.

Save your money for bulk ball purchases instead. The cost per can is much lower when you buy by the case.
