Let's talk about tennis : Let's go !
Hello friends,
Recently increased my string tension to gain more directional control, especially on flatter shots and returns. The difference in precision was immediate. Shots feel cleaner and easier to aim, particularly under pressure.
However, the trade-off is noticeable. Power is slightly reduced, and contact feels firmer. Longer sessions also feel more demanding on the arm, especially late in matches when timing is not perfect.
It raises an interesting question about adaptability. Higher tension seems ideal for control and confidence, but comfort and margin for error decrease, especially when not perfectly positioned.
Do you adjust your tension depending on surface, season, or playing conditions? Or do you prefer keeping the same setup year-round for consistency?
Hi @ScoutReed, I definitely lower tension in winter. Colder temperatures make strings feel tighter and less forgiving, so dropping 1–2 kg helps maintain comfort and depth. It keeps the feel more consistent across seasons.
