355 Group Tennis Drill – Reflex Volleys and Net Reactivity

Hi everyone,

Here’s a group drill to work on your reflexes at the net in close-contact situations. It helps develop reactivity and control on short-distance volleys.

The goal is to improve your ability to react quickly during fast exchanges at the net and to keep control of the ball under pressure.

How to run the drill:

Players A and B are positioned facing each other at the net, and players C and D wait behind them.

  • A and B start a fast volley exchange at a maximum distance of 2 metres from the net (no stepping back allowed during the rally).
  • As soon as a mistake is made or a point is won, A and B immediately swap places with players C and D.

In terms of positioning, keep your knees well bent, your centre of gravity low, and your racket in front of your body with a continental grip.

This drill develops quick reflexes that are essential in doubles situations or when finishing points at the net. It improves hand–eye coordination and your ability to stay calm under pressure.
