Here's a drill to improve your mid-range volleys and your ability to keep the ball low with a clipped spin.
Execution of the exercise:
- Set up a ball machine to send balls mid-height.
- Stand near the service line.
- Focus on keeping the ball as low as possible.
- Vary the direction of your shots by playing along the line or diagonally.
- To keep the ball low, produce a cut effect by opening the strings of your racket at impact and slicing under the ball to create the cut effect.
NB : By producing a cut spin, you will keep the ball as low as possible, making it more difficult for your opponent to return.
