Here is an exercise to improve your lateral movement, your recovery speed, your backhand consistency and your precision.
Execution of the exercise:
- Place a block right next to the center of the court.
- Set up a ball machine on the other side of the court to send balls a few feet inside the singles sideline. Start behind the cone and run toward the ball using quick steps.
- Hit your backhand diagonally aiming at the cones placed as targets on the other side of the court to work on precision. Concentrate on supporting your left leg (if you are right-handed) to push and strike the backhand, then quickly return to the block with chasing steps.
NB: Make sure you use the shuffle steps to quickly return to the plot. Focus on accuracy by aiming at the cones placed as targets and push with your left leg (if you are right-handed) to hit the backhand.
