178 Master the retro drop technique

Hello everyone !

The retro drop shot is a technique used in tennis to perform a backward drop shot. Unlike a traditional drop shot which is directed forward, the retro drop shot involves slowing the ball down so that it falls and bounces closer to the net.

Execution of the exercise:

  • Place yourself near the net on the side of your court. Your partner or coach will stand on the opposite side, in the opponent's half court.
  • Your partner sends you a ball relatively high and close to the net. The objective is to do a retro drop shot, the ball must fall close to the net, and bounce towards you.
  • To achieve a good backswing, adjust your positioning in relation to the ball, then use a delicate, controlled strike.
  • Tilt your racket back slightly when hitting to reduce the power of the ball and give it a trajectory that will make it land close to the net and a spin that will make it bounce back instead of bouncing forward. Before

It is an exercise that requires practice and patience, but which can be very effective in surprising and forcing your opponent to move quickly to recover the ball.
