Hi friends !
The retro drop shot is very effective in surprising and forcing your opponent to move quickly to recover the ball. Mastering it… I assure you, it’s not a simple thing! But don't panic, today I'm sharing with you an exercise that I practice alone to work on my retro cushioning.
Execution of the exercise:
- Choose whether you want to work on your retro drop shot with your forehand or your backhand.
- Hold your racket as if you were going to hit a nail with the edge of the racket. This is called the hammer grip.
- Bounce the ball on the ground and when the ball arrives,
use your racket to hit the ball with a shearing motion. This will give the ball the spin and spin you need to achieve a backspin.
Repetition and patience are the major keys to this technique.
