251 Tennis Drill: Taking the ball early

Hi friends !

Here's a drill to improve your ability to hit the ball at the top of the bounce. This drill focuses on timing, precision and the ability to react quickly to hit the ball at its highest point (catching the ball relatively early in its trajectory).

Execution of the exercise:

  • Position the ball machine so that it sends balls to a bounce height slightly above knee level. The objective is to hit each ball when it is at the peak of its bounce. This allows you to control the ball with more precision and power.
  • You can also work on changes in direction by hitting either along the line or diagonally.
  • As you gain confidence, you can increase the difficulty by moving toward the ball. By combining the move with the shot at the top of the bounce, you not only improve your timing but also your ability to adjust your shots depending on the position of the ball.

     

Repeat this exercise regularly to automate the timing and placement of shots, which will help you handle match situations better.
