Hi friends
While doing some research on the internet I came across a little nugget!
As you certainly know, we use video a lot to analyze matches, points and improve tennis tactics.
Often we want to play the video in slow motion and classic software like VLC exetera is not great for that.
....
I just came across a free software called Kinovea which is just perfect and even goes beyond everything I could have hoped for.
The software is structured around 4 axes
- capturing,
- observation,
- the annotation
- and measurement.
What is extraordinary
Slow down time.
Time in Kinovea can be represented in different units like frame number, total milliseconds since startup, or a classic timecode format.
For videos that are already in slow motion because they were captured with a high-speed camera,
the time scale can be adjusted based on the capture frame rate and all times in the program will then reflect the real-time values.
Perform image transformations.
- Turn.
- Zoom.
- Mirror.
- Deinterlace.
- Fixed aspect ratio.
Compare and synchronize.
Videos with heterogeneous frame rates can be synchronized.
Overlay two videos on top of each other.
Annotation
Create keyframes at interesting moments and include rich text comments.
Add basic annotations such as labels and numbers, lines and arrows, curves, multi-line paths, rectangles, markers, freehand drawings
Measure
Measure times using the stopwatch and distances and angles using the line, angle and goniometer tools.
You can zoom in to increase accuracy, measurements are made with sub-pixel precision.
Capture
Capture and save camera feeds.
The main interface can be configured for single camera, dual cameras, or one camera and playback screen.
Really very impressive and free software!
