Why does my game fall apart when someone watches? Anyone else? 😅

Hi everyone,

This drives me crazy sometimes. I feel confident in practice, relaxed, and striking the ball cleanly without thinking too much.

The moment someone stops to watch my match or lesson, everything changes immediately.
My arm tightens, timing disappears, and even easy shots suddenly feel uncomfortable.

It feels like a mental wall rather than a technical issue.

  • Is this something all players experience, even at higher levels?
  • What actually happens in our mind when we notice an audience watching us play?
  • Do you use specific techniques to bring your focus back during points?
  • Has anyone managed to turn this anxiety into something positive?

I would really love to hear your experiences and coping strategies. Thanks

It happens to almost everyone at some point. You start playing for an imagined scorecard in someone else's head instead of your own game. The key for me was accepting that the spectator is almost certainly not judging you as harshly as you think.
