Sabalenka’s mental grind in her tough fourth-round match against Potapova

Hi friends,
Sabalenka just beat Potapova 7-6 (7/4), 7-6 (9/7) at the Rod Laver Arena. She reach the fourth round but it wasn’t smooth. She had to come through tiebreaks in both sets and fight emotionally when Potapova made it tough.

It looked like Sabalenka still had nerves even when she was ahead.

Makes me think that even great players get pushed mentally under pressure.

How much do you think mental resilience won her this match, and how do you train that yourself?

This win was all about emotional management. Sabalenka's game was off her timing, her serve. But she never let the frustration consume her. You could see her reset after bad points. She’d walk to the back, take a breath, and refocus. That's a trained skill. She won because she controlled the narrative in her head longer than Potapova could maintain her incredible level.
