Hi everyone!
Here’s a solo tennis drill inspired by Roger Federer’s legendary backhand. The goal is to win the point by hitting two consecutive down-the-line backhands with precision and fluidity.
How to run the drill:
Place the ball machine in front of you, centered on the baseline, and program a sequence of two balls:
- First ball: simulates a powerful serve to the forehand side, at the body. Send it back with a down-the-line backhand, with a driven, deep trajectory.
- Second ball: a cross-court ball to the backhand side. Make a quick lateral move and hit a down-the-line backhand passing shot, keeping your swing short and explosive.
Do 10 complete sets with 5 seconds of rest between each set.

Pro tip: On the down-the-line backhand, keep the racquet head high after contact to stabilize your trajectory and ensure the accuracy of the shot.
