336 Group tennis drill – Return of serve – Sharpen your returns under pressure in 3-on-1

Hi friends!

In this fast-rotation drill, the returners practice dealing with continuous pressure, while the server works on precision and spin to avoid double faults. In short, a complete drill on both sides of the net!

Drill execution:

We play 3 vs 1. Player (A) stands on the serving side. The three other players (B, C and D) line up at the opposite baseline. The first in line (B) becomes the returner.

  1. The server (A) puts the serve into play.
  2. The returner (B) aims for a deep return, ideally cross-court, then goes to the back of the line.
  3. The next player (C) steps in, and so on.

After serving against the three returners, the server (A) moves directly to the back of the returners’ line, and the first player in line—normally player B—becomes the new server.

The rotation continues so that each player serves in turn against the three returners, then returns to the line.

Bonus: Play the last return of each series in 1 vs 1. This adds a tactical challenge and forces the server to anticipate the return 😄
