Tennis is a sport that requires great mental strength. One of the major challenges for players is not to be distracted by external elements, not be tempted by the good excuse of the external element and stay focused on your game.

Here are some tips to maintain your concentration on the court.

Disregard the best of the public

The public can be a source of encouragement and motivation but also a major source of distraction, whether through its enthusiastic cheers or agitated murmurs.

If you feel disturbed by the public made at best so as not to be influenced.

To stay focused:

  • Visualization: Imagine a bubble around you that separates you from the outside noise.
  • Breathing: use breathing techniques to stay calm and centered.
  • Internal focus: focus on your game and goals rather than reactions and interaction with public.

Manage interactions with the opponent

The opponent can sometimes destabilize you, intentionally or not ... You have to accept it, manage it and do with it, it's part of the game.

Here are some tips:

  • Focus on the ball: Keep your eyes on the ball and your mind on the game.
  • Stay professional: do not respond to provocations or disruptive behaviors.
  • Keep your strategy: do not let your opponent's play style influence your strategy unless it is necessary to win.

Accept that everything is not perfect & adapt to other external conditions ...

Weather conditions:

  • The wind
  • The sun
  • The temperature

Material condition

  • The land (lawn / land / porous / resin concrete)
  • Racket / rope
  • The net

Personal physical condition

  • A boho / an injury
  • A celebration next day (that's serious !!)
  • A temporary gene
  • Not to be in great physical shape

Personal mental condition

  • Difficult period of your life
