USTA 4.0 League - How to prepare for a full season?

Hi,

I just got bumped to 4.0 and I'm excited but nervous about my first full league season. The level looks tough! For those who have been through it, what was the key to your success?

Was it specific fitness training? Focusing on a reliable second serve? Mental toughness? I have 2 months before the season starts and want to create a focused training plan.

Thanks Smile

Congratulations on the bump! The single biggest difference at 4.0 is consistency and the ability to hit a weapon under pressure. My advice:

  1. Fitness: Work on your lateral movement and endurance.

  2. Serve: Develop a second serve you can trust 100% when you're down break point. This is non-negotiable.

  3. Patterns: Have 2-3 go-to patterns for when you need a point.
