The PongBot AURA is a modern, lightweight and highly versatile tennis ball machine. Its compact design makes it very easy to transport and set up on court, while the foldable ball basket, good battery life and fast USB-C charging make it especially practical for regular training sessions.
On court, the ball quality is convincing. Trajectories are consistent, realistic and varied enough to work on baseline strokes, volleys, smashes and short-court situations. One of the machine’s biggest strengths is the ability to position it in several different locations around the court. This changes the angle, timing and reaction time of each drill and creates a much wider range of training situations than a traditional fixed-position ball machine.
Another major advantage is its compatibility with yellow, green, orange and red tennis balls. This makes the AURA particularly interesting for tennis clubs, coaches and parents working with junior players. Being able to use the same machine across different learning stages significantly increases its versatility.
The app is generally easy to use and includes a large number of pre-programmed drills for the different machine positions. Users can also create their own custom drills and organize them into folders. The Quick Setup mode makes it possible to build drills very quickly, although its logic can occasionally take some time to understand.
One of the most distinctive features is Voice Training. Even without the Spotter or advanced AI features, the machine can already guide the player, set the rhythm of the session and provide spoken instructions during drills. This makes the AURA feel more interactive than a traditional ball machine and gives a first glimpse of the coaching potential of the future Spotter and AI Coach system.
The main limitation is maximum power. With a claimed top speed of 100 km/h / 62 mph, the AURA produces good-quality balls but is less powerful than machines capable of delivering heavier and faster shots. Spin is also somewhat more limited when combining maximum speed with strong topspin or slice. However, the wide range of launch angles allows the machine to produce very low and penetrating trajectories, which helps create challenging situations despite the more moderate power.
Overall, the PongBot AURA is an excellent option for clubs, coaches, families and players looking for a lightweight, versatile and upgradeable training machine. It may not be the most powerful ball machine available, but it compensates with a broad range of drills, multiple court positions, Voice Training, junior-ball compatibility and strong future potential through the Spotter and AI Coach upgrades.
