Pro’s Pro Tomcat – Honest Budget Stringing Machine Reviews Wanted

Hi all,

I’m looking at the Pro’s Pro Tomcat because it’s one of the more affordable electronic tennis stringing machines out there. But I’ve seen very mixed opinions online.

For anyone who owns or has used the Tomcat:

  • How accurate is the electronic tensioner in real use?

  • Do the clamps and mounting system feel stable and trustworthy?

  • Have you had any problems with reliability or parts breaking?

  • Is it suitable for regular stringing, or better just for occasional personal use?

  • If you upgraded from the Tomcat, what motivated you to do so?

I’m especially interested in long-term user experiences—both positive and negative. Is the Pro’s Pro Tomcat a smart budget choice, or is it a false economy?

Hi!

I've had my Tomcat for about a year and a half now, and I think its price-performance ratio is unbeatable . The electronic tensioner (MT-400) has been fantastic for me. It's smooth, accurate, and I've had no issues with it losing calibration. The machine feels solid, and the 6-point mounting system holds rackets very securely. While the included T180 diamond-dusted clamps are good, I did hear some users have issues with them. For me, they've worked perfectly fine. It's definitely suitable for regular stringing. For the price, it's a smart budget choice if you want to step up to an electronic machine.
