I get both sides honestly. The Davis Cup is special, especially at home, but these guys play 70+ matches a year. If he's carrying any niggle, better to rest than risk a serious injury before Australia.
Actually think it's smart management. He just finished a long season, reached ATP Finals semis, and has to defend Aus Open points. One week of proper prep could make all the difference in Melbourne
