Some days I hit great in warm-up… then play badly in matches

Hi!

Today’s session was frustrating in a very familiar way. During warm-up I was hitting clean, relaxed, confident. The ball felt easy, timing natural, arm loose.

Then the match started… and everything changed. Timing disappeared, the arm got stiff, decisions became rushed and awkward.

It almost feels like the player from the warm-up is not the same one who plays the match.

Why does match pressure erase good warm-up feelings so fast?

Hi @KevinTen,

I think that it's because warm-up has no consequences. You swing freely because nothing is at stake. The brain stays quiet.
