Trap match in the first round of 13/14 TCC - NT E5

July 21, 2024

Hi friends

Yesterday I made my first match in the quarter-finals in the 13/14 year old table at TCC (coutainville)
I played Camille ranked 30/2 and... and unfortunately defeated.

I played rather well but from the start Camille showed that he was very strong: He played very fair, very strong and regular...
even if at the start of the match I led 4-1, it must be said that I gave my all to return his ball which was fast and hit him a little too hard which made him make mistakes.

But then he settled his game and even started throwing balls in while personally I was physically out of breath...

Final result 6/4 6/0... If we were both technically as good as the other, Camille showed superiority to me on a physical level and was able to dominate me.

What puzzles me is its ranking: Only 30/2??? for me the guy plays easy 30.... so I don't understand why 30/2???

By examining his prize list and his ranking evolution I understood: in fact Camille was already 30/1 a year ago in August 2023 and with this new ranking system he went down to 30/2 because he lost points over the months then it went back to 30/1 in March 2024 but again it loses its points and goes back to 30/2

fauxclassement

In short, Camille (14 years old) was already 30/1 and in one year his level of play has only improved, logically he should be better ranked (30 see 15/5)... but the ranking system of the FFT drops him by 2x to a lower ranking (30/2) while the player is worth much more...

Result of the races, I pay a registration for a tournament and I play in the first round a player much stronger than his ranking, a player that normally I should only meet in the 2nd or even 3rd round...

Worse still, before me this player beat another young 30/3 player who was playing in performance: The poor thing clearly had no chance and it must not have been pleasant for him.

I don't know what you think but I find that the new FFT ranking system poses a real problem there...
